Thanks Peter,

No, the handle was not broken, just it begins to be a little hard to
depress. Preventive maintenance, you know. The slider do show some wear, as
this handle looks to be the original part from 1982. I took the opportunity
to clean everything, re-grease and finally install the various plastic bits
and gaskets that I ordered many years ago. The longest part was finding the
bag with the parts in my basement

I indeed used a coat hanger, but just to recover the lock rod that rotated
downwards. I’ll take a closer look with your technique.

You need to get a coat hanger and make a small hook on one end. Hook it onto
the lock linkage first and then put the handle in just far enough that the
"crescent" rotary of the locking mechanism is just inside the outer door
shell and "pull" the lock linkage into the rotary slot. Do the same for the
latch linkage. You also want to make sure the "slide" mechanism in the
actual catch is not gummed up. You can test this by locking the door and
pulling on the trigger. If it goes freely all the way back towards the
handle; the slider is free. If it stops 1/2 way; then the slider is gummed
up and eventually you will break another handle trigger. Regards, Peter

Hi guys,

I’m trying to reinstall driver’s door handle without removing the inner
panel. Bentley says yes, but I don’t have a clue how I can attach the 2 rods
on the handle thru that small a hole.

Any tips ?

Louis-Alain
