[urq] 2b relocate Alternator 'Siren' Noise?

Quick questions :

- Isn't the urQ alternator a reversed cooling flow unit (from rear toward
front)?
- Do you have the noise with the special urQ fan, the one with the blanked
surface ?

So it sounds like you are getting it, too, yes? It was loud on my car -
drowned out the engine noise. I never solved it- we figured out it was
coming from the alternator "fan" - not sure why it would siren there but not
in stock location - I'm thinking due to proximity (and only partly shielded
by) the valence. But I don't know. So yeah - never found a solution that
involved keeping that part. I ended up working with Apikol to design a
bigger intercooler that allowed the alternator to stay in stock location....

Keep us posted -

Say...

Did anyone that has the 2B alternator 'relocation kit' (that relocates to
below the AC compressor) ever figure out the 'siren noise'

I think I remember someone saying that it was making a 'siren' noise, and
may be caused by the proximity of the alternator to 'something'.

There is a fair similarity between the construction of a mechanical siren,
and the structure of the alternator.

I did find that if I covered the air intake on the rear of the alternator
when it was running, there was a significan reduction in the 'siren' sound.

I was thinkning next of installing the plastic 'air duct' that come on some
5Kt alternators, to see if that makes any difference, but was wondering if
any had any other sucess or tricks to help reduce the noise?
