Hoping many find this interesting, but due to a road of unforseen circumstances, a friend and I are discussing building one of these.

Here is how it started.

He went to a 24 hours of Lemons race http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/ where someone was racing a 4000 dr and crashed it hard. For reasons I do not understand, he bought it.

When he got it none of the valueable (rare) parts were good, all were destroyed save for the drivers b pillar.

So we really half assed made it driveable again and went to the 24 HOL race in Reno where the car did very well, only blowing one engine each day. Understand that we had put in an ABA 2.0 with 200,000 miles and didn't get it running right so we had to redline it every shift, while the other one was a 1.6 that we found at the track (racing at it's finest).

Well we got a bit of misplaced hate from some on the internet for destroying a 2dr, this series encourages a "theme" and I have ALWAYS been obsessed with the Pikes Peak S1.

So we decided to build the 2dr into a S1 replica and it needed to be done without spending any money, so using scrap hoods, fenders and doors I built a wide body kit complete with front and rear wings, I am currently painting it "right". Giving my finger a rest now, should have bought a trigger for those rattle cans.

Some pics are available at http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4200260

It is nearly done, but I am holding back pic's until done, maybe next week

We even got the right number so it can be raced under #1.

We will be going to Portland OR for a Chump Car race (very similiar to Lemons) on Halloween and will be running a 2.0 ABA again, but next time we will likely be running a MC and discussion is being had about swapping in a quattro drivetrain.
