At what HP/Tune level.
It all depends on how much power your putting out.
A stock urq will do just fine with a clean, free flowing 2.5". If you have a 20vt and are chipped though, the 2.5" is restrictive and you will get significantly faster spool up with a 3" System. I wouldn't say that you build MORE power, but you'll have a much fatter area under the curve.
IIRC Ned of IA did a computation on flow capabilities of 2.5", Dual 2.5" and 3" Systems. The 3" and dual 2.5" Systems actually have similar flow and IIRC above stock 3B power levels or chipped 10v Power levels you really started to see a difference.
My rule is that if I plan on running a chipped turbo car over 220hp then I plan for the 3" System.
