ATF Dex only, no green stuff. Can't comment on the usability of the Mobil 1

Ok, so here is one last thing that maybe I am over looking? But in talking to a local mechanic, we talked and he too could not come up with any real solutions. BUT at the end of the conversation I ask “Hey, I’m using Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF fluid..that’s ok right?”

So we beat back and forth of what I should be using, he said I should be using G00 200 (green mineral based fluid) and not using ATF?

The book I has says to use ATF Dex II, am I wrong? I think that’s what has always been in the car?

What are other people using?

Ug…thanks all.

The chance of an Audi dealer having someone that can diagnose the UrQ's brake system is roughly on par with winning the lottery. In other words, I wouldn't go there. The most likely outcome is they will put their most junior tech on it (senior techs will run like the car is on fire because there's no chance to beat book) and the poor junior tech will fumble about and break more than they fix. A good friend worked at a local Audi dealer briefly. I'll never forget him proudly proclaiming that "I'm the only one that can debug electrical issues- none of these old guys know anything about debugging electronics". I asked him if he was beating book on any of his electrical jobs, and if not perhaps that was why the older techs chose not to know anything. The expression on his face was priceless, and he quit shortly thereafter.

Where are you/the car? There are plenty of Audi specialists that should be able to help, even if it's over the phone.

That filter is in good shape and I also have replaced the paper filer too,

The entire system/hoses have been removed and inspected, the only thing I
cannot really inspect is the flow regulator(the item under the bomb)

None of the hoses leak, but the horizontal sensor for operational pressure
is leaking a little, I have coming, but im 90% that's not the problem.

Im thinking I might not have a choice but to tow it to the dealership for
diags.

Eric,

Hope all is well, bought these bits from my BMW dealer, hard filter and
"regular filter" (yes you can get lots of 20 year parts there) last year.
If anyone needs PNs shoot me a line.

Have you checked the filter at the bottom of the ATF reservoir?? There is a
hard cardboard-like, donut shaped filter at the bottom of the metal
reservoir.? This tends to break down over time and break up.? My 83' was
doing similar things and this filter had failed.? There is a BMW 733?
equivalent that works. Check the archives.? If this degridation get s too
bad, bits of this filter can get into the system and cause clogs at other
points.
