Lexol is your friend.  Orange cleaner, then the conditioner.  Put the
conditioner on heavy heavy, then let it sit out for a bit and have the
leather soak it in.  If it's been sitting for as long as it has, I'd say the
leather is going to be pretty thursty.  After about 2 treatings of the
conditioner, wipe off excess with a terry cloth towel.

That's how I used to do the cars we detailed way back when, and I still do
it with my current cars.  Leather still looks amazing.
