Been watching this thread with casual interest.... As one that has moved many urq's thru my shop and driveway both, I'm thinking this car is overpriced, and very well could prove overwhelming. I spoke to the double urq owner in Orlando, and he didn't even think it worth the drive or call. Heretic? Hardly, likely shares my view as a multiple urq owner: Seasoned.
At what price is this worth it? Well, I picked up a couple in this shape (or better) for less than half the price of this 84, both started and ran, one I drove home (with a bungie cord holding the spoiler to the trunk:). 1 is now a Steamboat car, the other became herr Lawson's sometimes-rolling nightmare... Those looking for a track car, will find a runner for a lot less, btdt... Those looking for a restoration, would be better off buying a restored car, btdt. What is there in-between? No offense intended = List chatter and irrational opinion to buy a 84 VIN.
Could this car be restored? Sure, but someone committed to a restoration could throw a couple grand more into the pot, and have a much better starting point from any perspective. Even if one cuts the sale price in half. someone committed to a restoration could throw a couple grand into the pot, and have a much better starting point from any perspective. Those of us with more than our fair share of irrational urq ownership then become the buyers. Anyone that's bought a car sitting outside in FL knows the first job would be to get the mold out of it. Then address what that's done to the leather interior and undercarriage. Add in the price of transport from Tampa to anywhere USA, if Eric F's dad or the Riley's aren't interested, I suspect the end will come via the reality of what this is.
It's ok to let one go, give the seller credit for supplying the opportunity. I promise to send any buyer a sympathy card if he pays more than the market price of the R8's.

Ed,
Completely agree.
These cars need to be driven, the more you drive the better they run.
Screw cosmetic appearance, as long as you can get it running again and is
structurally and mechanically sound just drive it and enjoy.
Cheers
