[urq] I wish ...balljoints

Yep, those are for later control arms.
You would have to have them machined (remove the two lips) to have flat ball joints that can fit the early arms.
I have a set of good used early ball joints that I can part with if you really need a set.
Or like Tod said you can get a set of later control arms and matching sway bar.
