    Todd, you are quite correct about it being only on the automatics(whatever they are) and the 
reason I was told was to prevent problems with overheating oif the Torque Converter. It produced
the same symptoms as the dreaded 4000rpm 'UrQ cutout'.

The 5kt cars only had a Brake input into the ECU on the Automatic equipped cars.  
I have no idea what this actually did.  On my MC Conversion I simply clipped 
this wire as on the Manual cars it was not connected.
