[urq] Since someone mentioned K&N air filters...as not a good choice...?

A K&N filter "flows better" because the holes are bigger. Pretty simple trade off, less filtering capability = more flow. I guess you have to decide for yourself if this is a trade that you wish to make.

I don't find the argument to be a good one. I've never seen dyno results that demonstrated any significant power increase using a K&N over a stock filter. I have only used them where I need a very specific filter size/shape in a non-stock configuration, as K&N does offer a lot of options.

I got some parts from a car that included a K&N ... seemed to me there was a
sanded effect in the intake tract ... hey, perhaps it is a poor man's extrude
hone! ;-)

I believe there's little question that an engine will breathe better with the
K&N (or equiv). I'm of a mind that as long as you do the proper maintenance the
K&N will not cause serious problems, even over the long term. Like Wilwood
brakes, the reason I tend to steer away from K&N filters myself is the proper
service is most likely to be neglected ... and that's where the problems come
...

I was just wondering what was the deal on that, is it realy just good marketing.
I did notice when i put mine in my car it did breath much better than the a few
of the other various paper filters. I have checked the inside air tracks for
dust and dirt and all seems to be pretty clean.

But what other experiences are people having? I did notice an improvment on
spool up with a K&N over a paper...but then I have had my K&N for years now.

I do live in oregon so its more wet than dusty and dry (whenI do drive it).

Anyone have any other recomendations?

Should i dare throw in K&N oil filters too?
