[urq] new battery

The general consensus seems to be the Interstate mtp-91, with some caveats
with regard to recent performance. No comments re. Optima's so far. Don't
know that they'd even fit. I found that the Diehard International 33348 is,
in fact, what I have in the S6 avant. It has been trouble free for five
years. Makes you wonder, considering the ratings.

I think my charger may be on the fritz, too. It's a 3 year warrantied
smallish DieHard with the 75A starter circuitry as well as the 2A trickle
and 12A regular and deep cycle charging circuits. I've had for at least
eight, but who would expect a charger to go wacky?

Thanks for all the input,

Steve

I used interstate batteries for years in the audis with no problems...mtp-91
or something like that, in the last 3 years, I've had two interstate
batteries fail very prematurely, one was a deep cycle marine battery, I
wonder if they started to contract out a lot of models.

I recently bought a battery for my S4 - and went with Interstate - had
always heard they were good and was told that again. After the purchase for
some reason I did more research and found that, for that particular battery
Johnson Controls was the manufacturer and I could have gotten that exact
same battery with a different label for much less at AutoZone. So maybe
check out Johnson Controls website.

Had the urq out this evening to heat it up and fill it up before the cold
hits Houston tomorrow. Freakin' flat tire to start. Don't know why
yet.will have to check tomorrow. It cranked right away, but the dash lights
and headlights seemed dim. When I realized I had the flat, I hit the
flashers.no blinking. Turn signals worked fine. Brought it home and hooked
it up to the charger and got a vacillating needle initially, but then the
fully charged light lit up solid. It may be six years old, so. It's a
Sears DieHard International that has served me well; 31248, and of course,
no longer available. Now it's a less than stellar rated 33348. What's the
latest battery wise with you guys? Odyssey, Interstate?

Thanks,

Steve
