[urq] Ignition coil specific to urq?

I agree, the coil is not 'special'... Audi went from a 20kv coil to the 'high output' 28kv coilwith the swap from points to electronic ignition.. I've used a MSD Blaster 3 for 30k miles in my old blue car, and it's still there. I have installed several in other urq's as well. The 'switch' I believe you are referring to is the external ICU (POS in Scar speak), located above the glove box, that is the control for ignition fire. It's not really a 'switch' per sae, the icu limits the duration of the primary current to the required period of time (to us old timers, it reduces dwell at idle)

Summed: As long as the coil is a 'high output' type, it should work fine

Maurits

I have a 1985 Ur WX, all electronics and engine still stook on it.

I don't think that is anything special. My coil was leaking and cracked, so I
replaced it with 034 3-pin http://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=39
and it works perfect.

I read something in someones page from UK that it has an internal switch?....and
only used urQ coil..bla..bla..., but I have no issues with mine..it fires right
up everytime and it runs nice too.

the urq's coil P/N 035 905 105 A?
