Keith,
If comfort is what your after you may look into customizing the stockers.  There are limits of course but if your issue is lumbar support for instance, you can place an air bladder inside the seat to allow for inflation of the lumbar area.  The previous owner of my #173 put one in the drivers seat.  Hanging low on the side is a bulb like the ones to inflate a BP Cuff when you get your blood pressure checked.  Close the valve, squeeze and you get lumbar support.  

Just a thought.  Or keep an eye out for some A2 Jetta Recaros and have them recovered to match!
