Hey Ben,

To be honest, I would forgo topping with fluid unless your getting in
to town, and make the drive without power steering. Your components
will hold up fine for the trip (minus your arms) and everything else
should be fine. Its when the rack completely dries out (to the point
of drying out the seals) that it can cause a problem.

I'd say pass on topping on the fluid to avoid leaking tons of oil on
the interstate & possibly all over the bottom of your car (and
possibly exhaust... making stinky smoke...).
