Calipers on A4/TT are both Cast Iron. I'm currently upgrading my A4 to larger 312mm Rotors using the TT Carriers and A4 Calipers.
Are your BBS's 15" or 16".
If 15" then you just need the B5 A4 Calipers and Carriers complete. using B5 A4 288mm Rotor.
If 16" then you can run the 312mm a8 Rotor with the TT Carrier and B5 A4 Caliper.
What brake package did you try that didn't work? I'm working on a setup that would fit behind 15x7 Fuch's using the A4 288mm Rotor. Not sure when I'll finish it though as other projects have become more important. I've got a wood template mockup though that I will use to check fit with a couple different wheels before I have a shop cut me some metal brackets.
OH... PN's for the 312mm kit are...
Two Audi A8 312mm x 25mm vented rotors: Audi Part# 8D0-615-301-J
Two Audi TT Quattro front caliper brackets: Audi Part# 8N0-615-125
Here is a writup for an A4.

Hope that helps.
