[urq] how does this happen?

I'm trying to figure out how much corrosion is actully moss or some other FL gunk growing on it.  Also, is the bungy holding the trunk lid down, or the tailpipe up???

The "free parts car" is a 5000, at least the pictured car is a 5000.  I
think the seller thinks it's a 4000.  Both look like that have been sitting
for quite some time.  The corrosion on the urq is almost painful to look at.
Overall, from the outside, it looks like a car I am emotionally drawn to
save.  I just want to generously slather some sort of mechanical/automotive
moisturizer on the engine bay though.  The interior, aside from the rad-cool
seats, is left to the imagination. The bungy holding down the rear lid
borders on blasphemous.
