[urq] Clutch Slave Problem?

 Keep praying Eric!  A properly functioning clutch PP tines are the return for the Slave via TOB.  The slave rests in the extended position only outside the trans, it's the TOB against the PP tines returns the slave/clutch pedal to the respective 'retracted/up' position when installed in the 016.  I suspect the SMRpray method will at best, be a temp fix.  It's certainly possible you got a one time 'overextended' non-retracted slave, but I usually see that about the time the PP spline/TOB/TOB sleeve failed from age/heat. IME, I have never seen a clutch fork fail (cast or stamped), the clutch pedal breaks first.

Let us know if you found salvation the easy way!

My thought was that the slave piston was stuck in the extended position, not because of hydraulic pressure but because it was just jammed in the cylinder.  If that were the case, releasing the pedal would cause the master to just draw in a full stroke from the reservoir, no?  That would also explain the reluctance of the pedal to rise--no return pressure from the slave.  At that point, pressing the pedal again would just be trying to push the slave piston out while it's already fully extended.  The fork will only let it go so far.

With the slave out, I couldn't push the rod in by hand.  It finally moved after liberal application of the SFS, and seemed somewhat normal after that.  I'm not taking any chances, and will be replacing all that returned fluid along with both cylinders.  I'll disassemble the old slave to check for corrosion on the piston or other potential causes.  After reading your report below, I'll see if I can check the condition of the fork by using a mirror or the braille method.  Stay tuned!
