No no, Eric, you are right... it's extended to the right. My fuzzy memory
made me think I had the rack fully retracted, but indeed you gain a better
access to the slave when the rack is extended and the wheels are pointing
left...
Sorry guys about the repeated confusion... been a long time I did them (2002
and 2005).
What cars will be assembled there ?
NMS (VW 's new mid-size sedan )?

I wondered if that "retracted to the left" was the same as "extended to the
right". When talking about steering I always just reference the steering
wheel direction. Now that I work directly with many Germans (and others for
whom English is a second language) I'm learning all about difficulties with
technical language.

Same old IT-type stuff I've been doing for years at health insurance
companies, but the work is now MUCH more interesting! When they told me I
could look out my office window and watch cars float by on the assembly
line, I asked, "Where do I sign?" One of my interviews was with the CIO of
the plant, a nice German fellow. A significant portion of that time was
spent talking about my urq and the one he drove many years ago.
