Yeah, but that situation is corrected now : all the fuel produced in North America is of the low-sulphur variety.

I remember a few years ago hearing that the main reason more diesels are not brought over from Europe is the quality of our fuel.

Something about sulphur content etc. Anyone else remember hearing such?

The A4 has been available in Europe with all sorts of TDi engine sizes and
quattro since the beggining (B5 chassis).
Audi has been promissing tdi quattro powered cars for Canadian market for
a long time now.  Somehow the usual excuse is that they are waiting for
the new platform with the new engine, that was 3 platforms ago!
 
I've lost hope and will be building one myself. ;)
