[urq] E-brake cables?

Hey All,

A close friend with an 83 Ur-q is looking for some e-brake cables. I have searched around and found a few distributors stating that 08/83 or newer had a different style of e-brake cable. Can anyone confirm? 

Also, while searching there isn't much out there. Is there a cross reference to an applicable VW cable / B2 Audi of some sort or is it proprietary to the Urq?
