[urq] Tranny question

 It is beginning to look like the Audi 5 speed manual box synchros live about 27-28 years.
A good friend has had an issue and recently found 3 possible donors all with bad synchros, and not always the same gear.
Mine has just recently started to jump out of second gear after downshift on decel. It never acts up or resists engaging on upshift or acceleration. Only on downshift and decel.
Is that a synchro issue or something else? I've not had any experience with this type of anomaly.
