Yes it can be welded .
Takes a reasonable craftsman and a tig welder .
Done it many times on BMW oil pans .
It has to be carefully degreased cause the oil fume when burned will
interfere with the tig
protecting gas , then the crack has to be removed with an agle grinder of a
file to obtain a V-shape ,
and then fill the V with the tig welder and weld it shut .
