[urq] Tire size!

Yeah, there are very few choices in 205/55-15 and no winter tires that I can
find.

I was thinking of going with 195/60-15 (a stock VW size so lots of choices)
which is still slightly taller than 215/50, but I might go ahead and go with
205/60-15 just for the sake of purity, overall driveability in terms of
"proper tire size for the car", etc.

I have a set of 15x6 Ronals that I was going to use which were liberated
from Dennis' basement when he moved (thanks again!).

However, I have a set of urS-car winter package wheels which I think I'd
rather use, along with some 10mm spacer possibly.

I have wanted to use some original urq Fuchs, but have not yet found a set
that I could lay my hands, and money, on. Are those a different offset from
the ones used on the 5000tq?

Anyway, the urS-car wheels are 15x7.5 et40 and a 195 would have been a bit
of a stretch to mount. So again, 205's seem the right choice. Plus, they
could be used on my other cars in a pinch (V8, 200q20v).

I was also looking at 195/55-15 which are the exact same diameter as the
215/50 and there is some availability in winter tires, but they're pricier
than I want to spend.

Yeah I think it was 205/60/15 - which is a bigger circumference. I once
tried to match the stock circumference - which ended up being, IIRC,
205/55/15 for snows - and had VERY few choices. Went with a Michelin Artic
Alpin - I thought the tire sucked. Moved to Nokian WR's in 205/60/15 - much
better tire.

I have a question too... Was the previous stock size 205/60-15? I am
looking for snow tires for my urq and am trying to match diameter with
215/50-15, which isn't easy. There's a big difference in diameter between
215/50-15 and 205/60-15. Well not huge, but noticeably on the speedo. Did
they change the speedo gearing when they changed stock tire size?

Brandon is correct. No rubbing issues with 15x8 ET24 wheels.
