Today I found that my left rear diff silent block
was compleately desintegrated .
This caused the bolt to occasionally hit the flexible fuel return
line . The line broke , and half a tank of fuel went on the street .
That's how I found out something was wrong .
Fuel meter went faster then the tach :)
This is kinda disturbing cause I replaced both silent blocs four years ago
when I did the six speed conversion .
So , just a few things I'de like to see confirmed , to make sure I didn't do anything wrong .
The silent block hangs on the subframe . Meaning if both bolts would break
the silent block would just fall off . It doen't rest ON the subframe , right ?
Looking from top to bottom there's the central bolt first follewed by a washer , next is the silent block itself , then
comes the a large saucer shaped spacer or washer or whatever it's called , then it's the aluminium carrier from the diff , and finally
an M10 washer and locknut .
Does that sound about right ?
I should add that I have a later coupe rear diff installed so there's no spacer or bus like in the eraly cast rear diffs
