Yeah, thats my point of view too.
But my question was : Is there a setup that we can buy that is already
soundproof ? Is such a beast exists ? A filter that is already enclosed in a
box and ready to install ?
There is tons of space there, and one can also draw air from the tie-rod
opening in the wheel well to suck fresh outside air instead of warm
underhood air. The RR setup is pretty much onobtainium these days, so
another solution must be found

2nd what he said. I have a 1.8T 03 B6 in the shop right now, exactly the
same way. Has some aftermarket "performance" intake with cone filter, stock
otherwise. Makes a ton of noise. Also have a stock 04 1.8T B6, silent for
the most part. Get rid of that air filter, go back to an inlet pipe and
filter box, and the noise will be gone.

Yeah. Go back to OEM airbox and get rid of the dingy K&N junk.
