[urq] URQ fuel tank

On both the tanks I've pulled this week, the urq and the 4kq, the fuel
return hose hard line soldered to the tank is corroded right where the
rubber line connects, just below/at the body gasket. Might collect water
there; it is a low point in the system so it might also corrode from the
inside if there is water in the tank. The urq fitting had corroded through
and was seeping slightly, the 4kq is just a bit crusty. It might be
possible to cut that hard line shorter, use a hose flaring tool, then attach
a longer flex line that ends inside the trunk compartment.

Pulling the tank is not difficult. Hardest part is draining the fuel.
Leave the two flex lines on if the hose clamps are a problem; I was able to
get them off but you do not want to put much torque on the hard lines off
the tank. Probably easier to plug the ends of the rubber hose than to find
a way to plug the metal tank lines. The body gasket comes off with the
tank; loosen it from below first. The 4kq had a metal ring retaining the
gasket in place, like at the filler gasket. Raising the car onto jack
stands makes everything much easier.

You should be able to remove it and have it professionally repaired. Since
it's almost entirely in the body shell, it's rare for them to rust badly
(unless the floor under the tank is compromised) so it should be a pretty
easy repair.

As previously discussed, drain it first. It's difficult to maneuver even
empty.

On the PS hose, Pirtek is in the US also. I've had them rebuild the
pump-to-bomb hose several times with excellent results- should be about
$100. The only caveat is you want to make sure they match the original
length as closely as they can- I got one rebuilt that was maybe an inch and
a half short. I didn't think it would be enough to matter (I didn't notice
until I got it back and compared it to the spare I took out) but I couldn't
get the banjo bolts to thread- I had to take it back and have them redo it.
