Funny thing, these lists. You feel like you "know" someone, yet you rarely know how old someone is, what they look like, or what makes them laugh.

Nonetheless, the losses hit home - it's been many years I've been on this list, and reading emails from familiar email addresses and names. Losing any of those contributors is a loss for us all.

Oh no. Appropriate words escape me.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Phil, but feel an unusual connection with
him.
I would probably not still own an URQ were it not for Phil and his advice and
wit. He brought me through some very frustrating times.
The world is a poorer place without him.
You will be missed Phil Payne.......God speed.

Thanks for letting us know Jim.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to post this information to the list.
Last Wednesday (December 5) Phil Payne passed away.
There's little I can say other than that I'll remember him as an unique
ndividual, a very clever guy, a font of knowledge and somebody who never
efused to help me with my quattro or provide useful advice.
