Yes, the later style clip-in bearing goes with the later style stamped fork.  The spring-clip early style throw out bearing needs to be used with the early style cast fork.  Fork found in only 89.5-91 200tq flat flywheel applicaiton, NLA from the dealer many years ago.  That said, the respective matched fork/TOB combinations are interchangeable to all 016 transmissions with the roll pin slave cylinder.

I'm getting ready to mate the 3b with the stock 016 locker in the urq.  I
have the newer style throwout bearing.  It won't work in the cast style from
the urq.  I have a stamped throwout carrier from a later 01a car, that won't
work either.  At this point, it seems the simplest way to go is to get the
correct throwout for the cast arm in the locker.  I was under the impression
the later style bearing could be adapted to the transmission.  Is the
stamped carrier from a torsen 016 like the 200q20v what I need?
