Andrew
I'm almost certain their is a mesh on the outflow pipe within the tank. The
most effective repair is to remove it and then a soldered or braised patch
(but fill the tank with CO or CO2 or water to purge the fuel fumes but the
latter leaves a drying out problem after) . If the tank needs more than this
then you are best getting a new Aluminium one made. A friend of mine did
this for less than the cost of a new OEM tank (if you could find one) and
also for peace of mind/longevity. Looks good too.
Hope this helps.

Folks can I use the better quality lining systems on my fuel tank or is
there a mesh screen in the base of the urq tank that will clog when I pour
in the sealant? Thanks.
