[urq] Good news for R12 A/C people

The hoses "don't care" what the refrigerant is, but in theory they can become contaminated with both non-compatible oil and refrigerant. This is why some conversions suggest replacement of all components.

You can still get R12 if you are so inclined, but the price is high. I don't know about availability in Europe. In the US, I can still buy it because I'm certified and have the credentials to purchase it. However, based on my recent experience with RS24, I don't see the point.

I do see, however, that RS24 appears to be available in at least the UK. Also, RS24 is OK with just about any available lubricant, so that shouldn't be an issue.

BTW, it is said that original R12 hoses were designed to "seep" the refrigerant. The newer hoses are supposed to be free of this "feature."

Speaking or R12 AC systems .

R12 hoses and o-rings are incompatible with fi R134 right ?.
How about the other way around ?
I have a bit of R12 left , but need to replace some if not all 30 year
hoses .
And "real" R12 hoses are no longer made .
Can I use nowaday's hoses incombination with R12 ?

Same question for the lubricant .
R12 oil is nowhere to be found in europe .
I do have a can of universal AC oil .
Don't know if that would be any good .

Pat
