I was tempted to suggest that you would likely get "flamed" about the flames.
For the record, I say do what you like, and have fun doing it. You're building the car you want, not the one Audi wanted!
One suggestion: "ghost" flames -- they can be very subtle while still give you the fun effect you want. My favorites are the ones at which one has to look hard to see.
Best o' luck!

Subject: [urq] Pictures and upgrades , folluw up .

Well, I seem to get most reactions about
the led upgrades and get "flamed" on the flame painting idea; .

Maybe I should elaobarte a bit .

I intend to get rid of almost alll light bulbs , and replace them with leds .
Not to make a "rice" car , but simply to avoid changing bulbs every couple of months .
Especially in the instrument cluster and switches those can be a real pita .
Fi the swiches left and right of the instrument cluster are or were illuminated .
I'll bet a crate of fine belgian beer none of you have al switches still working .
I've replaced those tiny little bulbs on several occasions , only to have them brake down
again after a short period of time . A led , can be white or colored , cures this once and for all
and as a side effect it produces no heat .
So I guess I'm ok with that ?
I most certainly won(t be putting blue neon under chassis or anything like that

About the flames
Yes that's a difficult one , and I haven't fully made up my mind yet .
DId this on my first car , 25 years ago and some people in the village
still remember it . "Oh was that you with the flaming renault "
Nice . But then again I'm not 18 anymore am I .
So as I accept some the arguements presentet here , I went to a toy store
yesterday and bought me a plastic Ur-q scale model construction kit .
I'll dig upp the old airbrush , and I'll do the flame paintig on the scale model first
and then see how it looks .

About the rest of the modifications
Nobody seemed to have any objections to the mechanical upgrades .... I wonder why :)

Thx for all the reactions , I'll upload some more pictures as I move on
