[urq] URQ door mirror

I welded up a stainless bolt, cut it a bit with a grinder at each end, and
made it work OK. It could easily be a piece of flat stock. Has a notch at
each end for the springs, and a flat piece at a right angle with a hole in
it to attach to the door hinge area. I took apart a few 4kq and coupe
mirrors; I think one of the newer style ones didn't have the same issue.
Was there a running change in the mirrors?
The similar (and later) 200 style mirrors also didn't seem to have the
issue.
Pull the mirror off (slots in bottom, turn retaining ring).
The frame for the electric motor is plastic welded on; I cut off the welds
with a sharp chisel.
The hinge has a pine holding the pot metal piece to the part that attaches
at the door; push out the pin to release.
To reassemble, I used small self tapping screws to replace the plastic
welds; could probably also reweld the plastic with a soldering iron but the
screws are very secure.
I might still have one taken apart in the huge pile of parts laying about
the garage... rebuilt them both and they're nice and tight now.

I think I could machine parts like that .
That is if it can be done with ordinary lathe and mill work .
I don't have the equipement to cast parts .
But I'm not familiar with this mirror problem .
Anyone have pictures showing what part we're talking about

Oh yes, that sounds familiar. I thought better of a "me too" post earlier,
but I've noticed the same condition on my car & I suspect there may be
others with this problem. Has anyone considered a group buy on a machined
replacement part? I don't know if it is practical, but I'd be in for a pair
if it is ...
