[urq] Audi Axle Lengths Question

To my knowledge there  is no bolt on solution for this , except to use the 
entire
front suspension , subframe and driveshafts from an S2 .

For the other typ85 quattro's it is possible to use later coupe or 90 7A-20V 
driveshafts .
The type 85 CV joints magicly fit . Helas , the ur-q CV joints do not . .

The only small chassis car that has the beefier axles of the right lenght 
for a 01E conversion is the (R)S2 .
But then the outer cv joints don't fit the urq hubs , the S2 hubs don't fit 
the ur'q bearings , the ur-q cv joints don't fith the S2 shafts .
I've tried it all . As far as I know , there 's no combination that will 
work without some degree of machining .

Best options are to modify S2 hubs to make them fit the urq bearings and use 
S2 driveshafts .
Can be done on a lathe , it's not even that hard .
Or as you suggest use a short axle and machine some kind of shim .
Theasme has to be done to the centre driveshaft btw , btdt a couple of times 
.

I'm a pretty decent welder myself , and cutting and rewelding a driveshaft 
would scrae me to .
Not for the lack of strength , but for balance .
The slightest warpage will cause vibrations .
