[urq] Take it to the Track?

--- Hi Paul , I hope Crush was good ! I have an '85Urq with the 10 valve engine-WX . I have not driven at Sonoma but I have driven A Little at Seattle International Raceways , in the past. In stock condition, the Urq tends to be an Understeering car. You must have found that out by now. You must remember that the "Street" Urq is Not like the car it represents. The strongest recommendation I can give is to install New Tires. The model and Brand is a matter of choice but The Listers on Audifans/Urq will be able to give better Recs. than me because they have Much More experience !! I would only say that a lower profile tire might give you a little better stiffness at the sidewall . Also a wider / taller wheel would help put more rubber on the road. Heat build up can sometimes be a problem, so when you stop, Open the Hood !! The stock brakes-Factory spec- are not the best for tracking but you will find out soon enough , just take it one lap at a time. At the end of the day, consult the Listers for Brake Upgrades Recommendations. There are a couple of ways to go and the list knows them. Use Premium Gas !! Do Have Fun !!!
--- One other thing, There are people on the S-Car-List , at Audifans, who have/do owned Urq's and other Audis who can also be part of your learning about the Urq and Modifing and Tracking It, so sometimes you might include , or , "Cc:" the S-Car-List also. If you do that then of course you have to Sign up / Subscribe to that list, which will mean more emails, but I think it is well worth It !! :)))

But I'm thinking of having a play date first. I've got all the basic safety stuff sorted out. The 30 year old brake fluid is gone, ditto the transmission fluid, differential fluid, dexron, brake pads, timing belt etc etc etc.
