Yes, they are prohibited from sending directly. A colleague of mine collects the parts and forwards them to me.

Based on my interpretation of Scott's comments below, I read it to say that German Dealer's are also prohibited from sending parts to the USA. Plus, who is "your" German dealer? ....and I'm not asking you to disclose anything, I'm saying that from the perspective of, if I walked into my dealer and they said, "we can't get those for you, you have to go to YOUR German dealer".....who would THAT be?

I guess in the end, the annoying part is that the Audi Tradition's website let me set up an account (which you are required to do before you can place an order) where you must specifically identify if you are an individual or a business. I specified that I was an individual with a USA address, which it allowed. I was then allowed to go through the checkout process with a USA address. The USA is a location that is designated on it's list of available places to ship to and it has a cost associated with it. My credit card was charged the full amount, despite getting the "We can't sell to you" response within hours of placing my order. PLUS my bank charged me a "Foreign Transaction Fee". Can I dispute the changes should they not be reversed? Of course, but I shouldn't have to. If they aren't allowed to ship to the USA, then why was I able to place an order?

The frustrating part is that it's just more $$$$, BS and hoops to jump through to keep these older cars on the road.

Ben

P.S. Thanks to all who have reached out to me privately and offered to act as a middleman to get me these parts. I'll get back to you should I need further assistance.

Actually that won't work either. BTDT about 6 months ago when trying to order a left side engine mount for my RS2. The dealer here in Atlanta spoke to the regional office and told me that they were unable to order Audi tradition parts. They told me that I would need to go through my German dealer......which I did.

Audi USA has an exclusive agreement with Audi AG in Germany which
prohibits dealers and Audi itself from sending parts directly to US
customers.
Basically one must go through an Audi USA dealer to get parts from Europe.
There are ways around it but it adds cost, risk and complexity to the
transaction.
