Hi Steve,
You only need the CGT window if you want the defrost in front of the light.
It is possible to retrofit, the mounting plates simply glue on.. but best to
get the entire window.
Swap is easy and you can reuse the original gasket as well.

Thanks for the BTDT on the bulb mount plate ground Martin.
I too found the added ground to make several volts difference in the voltage
applied to the bulb, and a noticeable improvement in brightness.
I've thought about adding the high center brake light as well. Do you know
if Craig had to source a CGT rear window to get the mount for the light, or
is it possible to retrofit to the existing window?

Bulb holders (both kinds, dual filliment or not) have a seperate lug for
spade connector for extra ground supply.
I usually use it and ground the bulb holder itself to the chassis with a
robust piece of wire and proper connectors.
Makes a world of difference.
New LED bulbs will also help, they require a lot less current to get the
same ligth output (quality LED that is).
Also, third brake light from later Coupe GTs is a good idea, Craig Cook has
one on his '84 and also makes a big difference, especially with black tails.
