my old pressure bleed kit (Easibleed) ran off spare tyre. Seem to recall it
said not to use more than 20psi.

In my experience the key is some pressure, not that you need a lot.
I've had good results using only about 15 psi.

Pressure bleeding will do the best job but be careful with a 30 year old
fluid reservoir and other parts or you could destroy them with too much
pressure.
I had a kit once that created pressure using the spare tire....that was the
safest.
