Hi Tony

Just to confirm, the oil I used in the transmission and the oil I used in the rear differential were different.  I found a bottle in the garagae which I had marked "Quattro Rear Diff" and this is Red Line 75W90 GL-5+ Hypoid Gear Oil. The oil you mention will be the transmission/center differential oil but I didn't have any extra so don't have the bottle to check.

Is MT 90 the same as MT-90 75W90?? I found the MT-90 but it is listed as MT-90 75W90  GL-4 Transmission gear oil.  From your e-mail I get the impression that the two oils are different>  Thank you.

Hi Tony

I changed the manual transmission/center differential fluid to RedLine MT90 and the rear differential fluid to RedLine 75W90 about 15 years ago and am pleased with the result.  My mechanic, who also has an urq, commented that his transmission felt notchy compared to mine, which was much smoother.
