When I got my urQ in 2001, it had a brand new OEM Volvo battery installed by the vendor, a Volvo dealer. I think it is a battery made by Varta. 15 years later, after numerous stints in various cars, it is still working as a spare. It's the toughest battery I've ever seen.
During that time, I've killed 4 AC/Delco batteries in the two Saabs I drive since 2005. Now, the latest Saab has a Bosch battery that seems to hold well after 3 years. According to my preferred supplier, newer cars have higher voltage than older rides like your urQ, hence the shorter lifespan. Also, since the urQ has the battery in a cool place in the cabin, that would help longevity too... The Saab battery is so close to the turbo that it has a dedicated fresh air duct directly from the grille which feeds a closed battery box.
