Yes Nathan you are right on , it is just a matter of time. Particularly with
the failure mode. If it dies while you are driving ( which is incredibly
likely since stuff rarely fails just sitting there ) your car will run okay
until you stop it , then you are screwed. My car has 240,000 km on it which
I think is about 130,000 miles with the current exchange rate :-)
    The good news ( somewhat ) is that it always seams to be an intermittent
start problem , and I experienced this also. Your car just will not start,
then you come back later in the day and it fires right up , so if you are
lucky this will happen and you will have had your warning. Remember if it
does not start just crank for 10 seconds and dump the code, it will tell you
what is wrong ( 2113 for cam position sensor ). The sensor is not cheap at
$125.00 Canadian from the dealer, but I guess just one tow could cost you
that. I got mine used and payed 30.00 plus shipping.
    I guess if you are a true masochist like me you could just get in there,
whip it out ( the sensor ) and have a visual inspection of the components.
