When I was faced with this problem for a 91 Audi I picked up a passenger side 
mirror assembly with a good mirror from a junkyard. It cost $40 IIRC. 
Alternatively you can order a replacement glass from a parts supplier like 
www.audipartsworld.com. I think their prices were on the high side, but they 
did have the mirror replacement.
