[V6-12v] Fuel filter replacement interval

Folks,

While messing with brake lines by the right rear wheel on my 1994 90S, I 
noticed a fuel filter which looked like it had quite some time on it (the 
car has 110kmi, dunno about the filter). I need to get in there anyway and 
thought of replacing the filter. How frequently do you (or Audi) recommend 
replacing the fuel filter?
