[V6-12v] Tire size

Hello,
I have the Audi 100 Avant Quattro 1992 2.8E V6 euro version car. Now I need
to change the tires. Till today I had the 215/60 R15, I got the perfect
offer for 225/50 R16 tires with discs.
Overall size (diameter) is exactly same, but I'm not sure if they'll fit
inside the dashers.
Does anybody here use the 225/xx tires?  I know they'll fit the S4/S6 cars,
but the had different dashers.
