I sort of remember having to remove the shock housing to get the long bolt out that holds the control arm in, but not having to remove anything else.  You probably do not have to get the car realigned.  I did when doing mine, but I did a complete bushing refresh on the F & R.  You will need a press or a copy of the special Audi tools shown in the Bentley to DIY.  Removing the control arm is the easy part.  Getting the bushings in and out is not.
