[V6-12v] Gear oil, brake job

I agree with Ed on this one .
My brother was over on the weekend, he is a mechanic and he says he NEVER
changes gear oil unless the customer complains about shifting as this
complaint ( noisy and sometimes clunky ) is common after a change. He
figures the oil just gets to a consistency that the gear box likes and stays
that way. I noticed the same thing in my 944 actually and wished I had not
changed it . He did give some other great advice I would like to pass along.
1. remove the fill screw first . If you find you can't get it out after
draining the fluid, you are basically screwed.
2. Use a bolt with a 17mm head on it welded to a piece of pipe or round
steel, makes a great tool , or just put two nuts on the bolt and lock them
together and use a wrench, a quick and cheap alternative to finding that
17mm hex.
