I think that he may mean that the extra force (centrifugal force, turning
the corner)
will load that wheel up more.
The leverage from Wheel bearing to ground will come into play.

Usually a "grouching" or crunching noise on a turn in means that a CV joint
or 
a wheel bearing is going bad. Take a look to see if a CV boot is torn. If
the 
noise occurs on right hand turns then take a look at the driver's side wheel

since that is the loaded wheel.

I'm not so sure about that. The loading primarily stems from the forces and 
torques applied to the suspension by the car itself. I doubt the weight of 
the driver makes much of a difference. After all it's only about 5-10% of 
the total weight of driver + car.
