[V6-12v] O2 sensor scam

I wouldn't recommend that. The ECU measures the voltage from both sensor
banks separately, and I'm guessing on OBD2 it takes an 'after cat' reading
on both banks. Without thinking about it too hard, I don't think the voltage
will be the same if you simply splice more wires into one sensor.

Quite apart from that, it won't be telling the ECU what it needs to know.
The O2 sensors are the PRIMARY sensor for the ECU to adjust the mixture.
It's one of the few parts where it's definitely not worth being cheap, as
good sensors in good condition will save you a lot more money than you spend
on them in terms of fuel economy and engine efficiency in the long run. I'd
even recommend replacing them as a service item at regular intervals (c.
80,000 miles).

You can, however, replace the original sensors, which come with an 'audi'
wiring connector, with the correct generic 3 or 4 wire sensor and just
splice into the wiring harness as close as possible to the original
connector plug. The generic sensors are just as good (bosch do their own
range to OEM spec.) but usually about half the price, just for the sake of a
bit of splicing instead of a neat plug. However, make sure that your
original wiring and connector plug are in good enough condition before
taking that option.

Best,
James
