BTDT. I'd still target the fuel pump.  That is a weak link.  Even a nearly
dead pump will put out fuel but without pressure and volume the car will not
start.  You could use some dangerous methods and spray starter fluid in the
intake-carefully-while attempting to start.  If the car fires at all you
probably can assume fuel is the problem.  Pressure and volume testing is not
easy without the proper test setup.  Pumps do not last the life of the car.
