Probably lots. As George Tur <getur at optonline.net>
mentioned, Audiconnection.com has done the V8 into
a 200 conversion. Lots of "who'd-have-thought" work
went into it (transmission tunnel was a big one).

First decide which V8, and 5-speed or automatic. I'd
prefer the 4.2 and 5-speed Tip from an A8, but there
are a lot more electronics involved. The original
V8 automatic is weak; the 5 speed is rare.

Once that is decided (or you've found a cheap donor car
that made the decision for you), I'd study the ETKA to
see what electronic modules are involved on both sides
(V6 vs. V8), and see what has to be spliced or updated.

I don't think physically fitting the engine/transmission
combo would be that big a deal, as Audi fit it into the
newer S4s (of course, that's how you get into those
who'd-have-thought moments when you realize you bit off
more than you can chew, but are so deep into it you can't
turn back).

I say "Go for it", then use the lists (V6, V8, and
quattro) to help you over the rough spots. And use
only donor cars, so that you don't tie up your daily
driver for a year. :)
