[V6-12v] New A6 with some minor issues and some questions

About the fan speed display, those are easy to fix, I had the same problem
on my '94 90 which is pretty close to your A6Q. Gently pry off the wood
surround around the digital thermostat, unscrew the unit from the console
and the bulbs are unscrewed out on the sides without disassembling the
unit. You can get replacement bulbs at Radio Shack and I suggest replacing
all the bulbs at once because it's cheap (if you get bulbs through Radio
Shack) and it'll keep your backlights all at the same brightness so it won't
look uneven. It only takes like 5 or 10 leisurely minutes to fix it.

As far as exploring the ODB system, check out
http://www.planetfall.com/~jeff/obdii/ They have a RS232 to ISO9141-2 / SAE
J1962 (the name of the diagnostic connector in the car) which it sounds like
just what you're looking for. I haven't built this or anything so I'm not
vouching for it's usefulness but it came across my browser and thought it
might be useful, I hope it does.

I also get the check engine light too, and I used this
procedure<http://12v.org/maintenance/dtc.php>and it blinked out 2411,
the EGR system code but it's not fixed yet but I'll
get to it one day.

Good luck, Nathan.
